Lower Dauphin Girls Soccer "Definitely" Circling Mechanicsburg on the Schedule

By Luke Brown

Luke Brown of Mid Penn Weekly interviews Jolie Revenis and Laylah Snow at Media Day (Mark Pynes/PennLive)

Lower Dauphin finished first in the Mid Penn Keystone last season after going 9-1-2 in division play. The story goes beyond the record, though, as Lower Dauphin finished with an overall 13-2-3, despite some very tough competition. Among that were the Wildcats' of Mechanicsburg, which the Falcons lost and tied to during the year. In my chat with Jolie Revenis and Laylah Snow, I found that Lower Dauphin is not shy to admit that they are focusing heavily on Mechanicsburg.

Falcons Goalie Lauren Waglers made 5 saves last year in the first match-up between Wildcats and Falcons, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. The second time they played, Mechanicsburg got the edge in a 2-1 victory. Senior Jolie Revenis claims "they're like our rival." Her teammate, senior Laylah Snow said "that game's always a battle", and later saying "it's never a boring game" with Revenis adding, "you've always got to bring your A game."

In the 2-2 tie early on in the year between the two, Halle Engle scored both Wildcat goals. Lower Dauphin's Snow claims that the Falcons won't be treating Mechanicsburg any different even though Engle is now playing for Liberty University.

As for the rest of the season, the bar is set high for Lower Dauphin as Jolie Revenis aspires for the team to go back-to-back and win the Mid Penn Keystone division again this season. Further than that, Revenis claims another goal is to make it far into the PIAA State Tournament, a tournament just out of reach last season. The Falcons fell 2-0 to Wilson Area in the quarterfinals after a 2-1 OT win against Governor Mifflin in the opening round.

Both Falcons seniors say they're taking the season "one game at a time", a wise decision ahead of their tough Mid Penn schedule.
