District 3 4A Tournament loaded with Mid Penn representation

Brady Smith from West Perry celebrates after a big play vs. Northeastern (Michael Bupp/Carlisle Sentinel)

The Mid Penn conference is well represented in the District 3 4A bracket, as the top 3 seeds belong to MPC. West Perry takes the number one overall seed, followed by East Penn and Susquehanna Township. On Monday, May 23, the first round of the tournament will begin.

#8 Octorara (10-10) vs. #9 Fleetwood (7-12) will begin at Octorara high school at 4:30. While 8 seed vs. #9 seed games are usually close, the drop-off here between the two make you feel almost as if you would need another seed in between. I project Octorara to take a big win at home and advance to face West Perry.

The other match-up between 7 and 10 is an exciting Mid Penn match-up between Middletown and Big Spring. Middletown at one point in the season were on pace to win the Mid Penn Capital division. On the other hand, you have Big Spring, who took the short end of the stick when the difference of the 5 spot and the 1 spot were just a one game difference in the Mid Penn Colonial standings. They placed 6th behind Shippensburg, though Shippensburg was the number 1 team in the division just one day prior.

Big Spring has 13 losses, on the season, and I don't predict them to keep at 13 by the end of the afternoon, Middletown wins 8-2.

The top 3 seeds of the tournament will start their games on Thursday, so look for news and analysis on their games as well.
