While the season has ended for the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders, it will always hold a special place in the heart of Kosta Giannaris. This year, Kosta was the leading scorer and captain for the Crusaders, leading them to a 12-4 record and playoff appearance. While their season didn't necessarily end as hoped, Giannaris is still very grateful for his time at McDevitt.
The season didn't end as they wanted for him and his teammates, but he had this to say on what they could have done better looking back."The team left it all there on the field, and you can't ask for much more than that.", Ginnaris said in an interview on episode 19 on Mid Penn Sports Weekly.
When asked why he opted to move to McDevitt, Kosta said, "The main motive to go to McDevitt was the family environment and loving environment that it brought with it. Looking back on it now, I've seen that I've made so many great bonds and memories that I'll remember for the rest of my life."It was clear to him that this was the best decision, and looking back on it; it's tough to argue.
Of course, the next step after high school is college. When we asked Giannaris about his plans, this is what he had to say "I'm going to focus on the club season for now, then I'm planning on college soccer next fall." While he didn't expressively name any school, the star Crusaders striker has garnered a fair amount of interest from high-quality programs. Be sure to stay on the lookout for a commitment to play college soccer.
McDevitt, over Kosta's 4 years, have played in big games, but Gianarris cites his last regular season bout as his most memorable, "The last regular season game against CD East, more specifically my second goal of that game. I think that goal just set the tone of the whole season and the energy it brought with that celebration" He, unfortunately, sustained an injury during this game that prevented him from playing against Cocalico, but a special moment for him and his teammates at Bishop McDevitt.
